Located between the Old Town and the Vltava River, it offers a unique insight into the history of the Jewish community in Bohemia. Visitors can visit the Old Jewish Cemetery, several historic synagogues, including the Starona Synagogue - the oldest surviving synagogue in Europe - and the Jewish Museum. The district is named after Emperor Joseph II., whose reforms improved the status of Jews in society.
